We value and believe in the younger generation. Youth are a big focal point of our activities at Mike's Place. Much of what we do is aimed at helping youth find the healthiest path to achieving the dreams they have for their immediate and distant futures. We currently offer: After School Hang-Out Time every Tuesday from 3:00 - 5:00. At present, this time slot is intended primarily for elementary and middle school aged children.
High school students are welcomed to After School Hang-Out, and are expected to show exemplary conduct; modeling respect and responsibility to younger children. Students are welcomed to work on homework and have free time. There is a game room consisting of pool tables, ping-pong, board games and puzzles. There are also many art supplies available and the gym is open and supervised for basketball and other creative activities.
Kids enjoy snacks in the Holy Grounds Cafe where each item is only .50 cents.
IMPACT GROUPS - Each Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00 youth and adults come together for a potluck style meal, worship and then seperate into Impact Groups. High school students have a designated group and middle school and elementary ages have designated groups, (adults also enjoy their Impact Groups having focused discussion and support). This setting is where we dive into faith topics and gain deeper understanding of spiritual disciplines such as prayer, studying the Bible, and a life-style of servanthood. Impact Groups are fun, safe, and supportive.

Community Service at Mike's Place
We often work with volunteers who need community service hours for particular needs or programs. You may need hours to graduate, obtain health care, or perhaps you are fulfilling a court order. Volunteers are needed for yard maintenance, janitorial duties, and misc. projects that are always in the works.
All volunteers are supervised and no one works with youth and children without a thorough background check and screening. Call Mike's Place to find out if there are any areas for community service open.

We are excited for this healthy choices approach to helping teens discover powerful life skills that will make a difference now and for their futures! TOP will be running through mid June and is a high commitment level program. Sign-up for TOP will be closed after mid February.

Community Service Mike's Place often times participates with community service programs when hours of service are necessary to fulfill personal obligations. You may need service time to graduate, receive medical care, or perhaps you are court ordered. In our history we have worked with teens and adults alike. There is always something that needs done at Mike's Place. Often times people that have served their hours at Mike's Place gain a broader view of service and experience the value of community. Please call with questions and have some ideas ready of how you would like to pitch in. What do you do well? A few ideas are: outside lawn and property maintence, inside janitorial, office help or organization type projects. We also need extra hands for special events. Please note: Individuals will not be permitted to work with minors without a background check and training from our staff. All volunteers are under supervision.
